I've started to like it, what does everyone think. I've heard quite a few people call it a guilty pleasure, but I can't really see why.
I also pronounce it "Per-see-fone" though I've heard several different ways.

I'm sure it's per-SEF-a-nee. That's how it is in the myth at least and I think it sounds illiterate pronouncing it different. Everyone would say it wrong and then you would be mad and you can hardly blame people for saying it like it's really pronnounced.
That being said I love the name and don't see why you would want to say it different, it's awesome just the way it is!

I love it! Although it looks like it should be pronounced Per-see-fone, I much prefer the pronunciation Per-SEF-oh-nee. It sounds pretier to me that way. =)

Per-seh-foh-nee is how I say it and I think it's pretty. I wouldn't use it in real life because it's a bit too long and I think it sounds a bit pretentious....which also depends what your sirname is.

The only reason I really like it is because of the part in the myth where Persephone's return to earth causes the seasons to change.
I like the way it sounds in the real prn (per-SEF-oh-nee) except it's too long. I saw an episode of Law&Order where there was a character called Persephone and people kept saying Persa-fone.

I do like it, and I'm becoming more inclined to want to use it as a first name. I pronounce it Per - Seff - o - nee.

I actually hate it tbh! I really don't get why people like it so much. I hate the way it sounds, no matter which way you want to pronounce it. The 'proper' way is per-seff-o-nee and I think it sounds ugly. Yeah, just don't get the attraction to it.

Oh I LOVE Persephone! And although it may seem a tad nuts, it's definately not a GP for me. It's a positively gorgeous name, and no worse than Myadyzin or anything lol.

I strongly dislike your pronunciation of the name, but it's one of my favorite names with the pronunciation per-SEF-a-nee. I'm not sure if I'd ever actually use it, but it is a gorgeous name, imo.

To be honest, I really dislike pronouncing it the way it's meant to be, which I know will sound silly to most people, but the way it's supposed to be pronounced sounds like Stephanie, and I really dislike the name.

If you don't like the way it's supposed to be pronounced, I don't think it's fair that you use it. It's like naming your child Emily and insisting that it be pronounced eMILLy, Benjamin "ben-JAY-min," Victoria vic-to-RIE-ah, Charles "Char-less." It's incorrect and it's not the same name.
I dislike how it sounds too, although it's been growing on me. If I met a Persephone I would be made happy, but if I met a Purse-a-phone I would become quite depressed and probably post an unhappy message about it on BtN.

Haha, well, I suppose that makes sense, but I couldn't really think of another spelling for it. and if I were to make one up, it'd be called made up, so either way I'm screwed with that name.

I really like Persephone, but I have never heard it pronounced the way you are pronouncing it. I prefer per-SEH-foh-nee.

I'm sorry, I don't particularly like it. All I'm getting is "personification" and images of sea horses (I don't know why). It also sounds very masculine to me. Too strange for my taste, but I'm sure I wouldn't mind it on someone else or anything.

I pronounced it 'per-seh-fone' when I first heard it because I though that was what the spelling was (I read it in a book). I think that it is meant to be said 'per-sef-on-eh' or 'per-sef-on-ee'. Personally I like all three but for me the name is a guilty pleasure. It's a bit too much to use in real-life IMO. But I do adore it and would greatly admire anyone who used it!

I think people consider it a guilty pleasure because they just won't use it, even though they like it. The meaning is pretty bad, and the myth behind the name isn't pleasant either. Plus, people'd mispronounce it.

I've never heard it pronounced any other way but per-seff-o-nee either. As far as I know, that's the only pronunciation. It's definitely the original pronunciation.
But I can't imagine it would be mispronounced that often. Although, I find that I give the general public more credit than they deserve. Apparently there are a lot of people who don't read and/or aren't familiar with mythology even though you learn it in school. I guess they don't pay attention or retain information. I don't understand people.

I still really like it. I wouldn't call it a guilty pleasure because I can imagine using it...the only reason I wont use it is because there are quite a few names I like more - not because it's too weird to actually be bestowed upon a child.
