Nicholas- I love Nick as a NN but as a full name I'm not really fond of it. It is classy and masculine which is good but still kind of plain.
Christopher- A really great name imo but I strongly dislike any NN. I can't stand Chris and Topher makes me sick. This is also a very classy and masculine name and as long it's used without any NN Christopher would be my choice. I don't find it boring even though it might be common.
