[Opinions] Joanna
What are your thoughts on Joanna? Also, would you prefer Johanna (yo-HAHN-a) or Joanna (jo-ANN-a)? Thanks! :-)

I love Joanna. I prefer it to Johanna, but both are nice.

I feeeeel you Johaaaannnaaa...I love it beyond on all words, probably because it makes me think of Sweeney Todd (even though that one is Johanna pronounced like Joanna)! I would also use it personally because it honors my aunt, named Joann (and I'm not a huge fan of Joann or Joanne).

I love the movie Sweeney Todd. Everytime I hear that name, that song pops into my head, which is quite often since I have a friend named Joanna!

I adore that musical! I didn't like the fact that they pronounced her name Joanna in the movie, though. (Even jo-HAH-na, as they say it in the original cast, bugs me a little, but pronouncing it the same as Joanna far more so.)I agree, Joanna is a lot nicer than Joanne. It just has that...certain something.

I don't mind the name at all, it's quite nice. I prefer Joanna (jo-ANN-a).

Joanna is very pretty! I love all the names that rythm with Anna inculding Anna, Hannah, Jana, and Susanna. I like Joanna much better than Johanna.

Though I like both, I'm starting to lean on the side of Joanna. Johanna is a bit softer, and I like Joanna's hard directness. It's pretty, but also business like, if that makes sense. I've recently been very into this name. (My current favourite combo is Joanna Magdalene.) I think it's quite due for a revival. Can I just add that Johanna pronounced Joanna bothers me so much? I just saw the movie version of Sweeney Todd and it was really bugging me. So, er...yeah, I'm glad you're pronouncing it yo-HAHN-a too.

I prefer Jo-ANN-a (Joanna)yo-HAHN-ah seems overly pretentious to me and would be mispronounced a lot.My cousin is Joanna Elizabeth "Jo"

I think Joanna is due for a revival. I like it a lot. Between Joanna and Johanna (pronounced jo-ANN-a, jo-HAN-a or yo-HAHN-a), I prefer Joanna.
