Lia’s father had an affair with another woman and they had a child together, Lia’s half-sister. Her name is Carlota. She is now 20 years old. How did you find out? Did Lia’s mother know this? Are you meeting her?
Dear all,
As you'll all know this year has been pretty eventful for us.
Most importantly we welcomed Ginnifer, a little sister for Nathan. She's beautiful and absolutely healthy in every possible way which is a great relief for us as we were worried that the injuries I had sustained when the tree collapsed may have injured her.
Nathan's coping brilliantly being a big brother and loves to help out with feeding and changed Ginny. He's also doing great, having been given the all-clear from the doctor who treated him after the storm.
Our house has also been given the all-clear! After lots of stressful arguments with the planning department, we're now free to live in the house and it's absolutely marvellous.
However, last but not least was the startling revelation that I have a younger sister. It turns out that my dad had an affair with a colleague when I was four years old. I had already known that when I was a young child, Dad had suffered from depression because of our money trouble. The lady with whom he had an affair (Francesca) left suddenly and he returned to my mum and has stayed faithfully loving her ever since. This was extremely difficult for me to accept but after a couple of months, Johnny persuaded me to make contact and although things are strained, Dad and I are back to having some semblance of a normal father/daughter relationship. The most important part of this discovery however, was that Dad fathered Francesca's child, a girl named Carlota. Who knew that after all those years of asking for a sister, I'd had one all along? It turns out that Francesca left because she was pregnant and didn't tell Dad or Carlota until this year when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The revelation has been hardest on Dad I think but we've all welcomed her with open arms. I bonded with her immediately (before I had even forgiven Dad) and Mum has been making an effort to include her in our family.
Other than that (!) it's been a quiet year. Must go feed my babies!
