Bellatrix has odd and harsh sound :-((. I dislike it.

I didn't know there was a Harry Potter connection. I've never been a big fan of the name. I prefer Beatrix or Isabella or something like that.

I like Bella (as a nn for Isabella, Isobel or Isabelle) but trix (coming from the states) reminds me of the breakfast cereal. I dislike it, and also Beatrix. Although given the choice I'd have to say I pefer Beatrix to Bellatrix.

This is a major GP for me. I love it! I had never heard it before HP, and there's nothing I like about the character so I don't know why I like it as a result of the book. I think it's the sweetness of Bella combined with the harsh, witchy sounds in trix, the whole combination is mysterious and strong.

The HP connection aside, it's kind of a cool name but I don't like Bella- or -trix. It's something I wouldn't mind seeing on someone else's kid, though (however, I would assume they were HP fans, albeit the odd kind, lol).

Along those lines, I like Isabel (not Isabella), Arabella, and Beatrix (though I much prefer Beatrice), but dislike most other -bella/Bella- names and the main reason I prefer Beatrice over Beatrix is the -trix part (and possible nn Trixie).

I don't really care for it. Names ending in -trix are very unappealing to me. I can appreciate that Trixie is a cute sound for a NN, but -trix by itself smacks of stripper name to me.

I don't think it's useable, at least not right now, because of the HP association, esp. as it's the name of a creepy villainess, it's not the same as using, say, Albus. Actually, without the HP connection, while it's an interesting enough name with a nice meaning/ star connection, I think it's too harsh-sounding to be used.

It's okay, I guess. I'm not a huge fan but there are far worse names out there.

It has a "old" feel to it but "young" at the same time.

Ignoring the HP connection, Bellatrix feels like a poor man's Beatrix to me, combining one of the trendiest sounds of the moment (Bella) with ending of Beatrix. I'm not a fan.

Coming from the point of view of someone who has never read Harry Potter, and therefore has no association with it (don‘t kill me! I read science fiction, not fantasy!) I think it’s an interesting sounding name. The meaning is quite strong and it really conjures up an image of the woman who’d carry it.
