Your DH just told you that he lost his job. How does the family take it? Why did he lose his job?
It has been five years since Caitie and Eamon were born. A lot has happened for the family. Last year, Wil lost his job in the Navy. Someone higher up than he decided that he was getting too old to have the job he held, so he was let go nearly eight months ago. Wil and Bekah have saved up a bunch of money over the years and Wil decided to have a semi-retirement. He is taking a few years off to just kind of relax and do some of the things he's always wanted. He figures maybe a career oppurtunity will arise out of that. Right now, he is taking a woodworking class at the community center as well as trying out some cycling and swimming in spare time. Bekah is busy being the grandmother and mother that she has always been. She has become a source of advice and a counsellor for many of the older children, who really look up to her.
Hugo and his wife Kirstin have had two more children. Annika is three now and Jonas is just over one year old. Hugo's firstborn son, Keegan, is fifteen now. He has tried dabbling in drugs, but Hugo quickly put a stop to that and steered Keegan toward more healthy activities such as drum lessons and a part-time job in the local music store. Keegan seems to have a great affinity for music and enjoys all aspects of it.
Jonas and his wife Annie had a little girl nearly two years ago. Sophie Vienna is her name. She is a wild little girl who loves getting into trouble. Their son, Eamon, entered Kindergarten this year and is doing very well.
Kathy and Jeff were married 4 1/2 years ago. They are still trying to have a baby, but have not succeeded yet. They plan to turn to alternative methods in a few months if nothing happens.
Lara married a little over a year ago. Her husband, Freddie, is an illustrator of children's books. He is very good for Lara and balances out all of her personality quirks. Freddie and Lara welcomed their daughter two weeks ago. Her name is Mary Alexis and she is as cute as a button!
Nicky, now twenty-four, finally found himself a girlfriend. He and Sierra have been dating for a little over a month now. Nicky is working with a geneticist on the Human Genome Project. He really enjoys the work and in his spare time still rides horses. That's how he met Sierra. She is a riding instructor at the stable where he boards his two horses, Zeus and Sunbeam.
Eira is nineteen. She is a college freshman. Her major is English with a specialization in Creative Writing. She loves to write, still and would like to be an author.
Amber is seventeen. She is a senior in high school, but gymnastics has been her life for a long time now. Two years ago she went to Nationals and has reappeared there for the past two years. She is hopeful to be selected for the Olympic team next year.
Mary and Sarah are now eleven. They are growing into lovely young girls who love to have fun. Mary especially enjoys dancing, while Sarah prefers to be playing her guitar. The girls love having friends over and are very popular in their class at school.
Sophia, the youngest, is nine. She is in third grade now. She still likes singing, but has moved on to other things. She now likes watching cartoons, pretending, and has recently begun riding horses.
Now, a word about the cats. Judah, the older cat, died last summer. He was nineteen years old and lived a happy and full life with the family. The younger cat, Seven, is now eight years old and seems to be slowing down a little faster than Judah did.
