The meaning depends on the kanji (characters) the parents chose to write the name with. If you know one particular person named Misa you could find out what her name means, but it's not possible to generalize as Misa has dozens of potential "meanings." The first character (Mi) could mean beauty, three, heart, fruit, and more, and the second (Sa) could be bloom, early, gauze, cherry, and more.

I don't know for certain, but because mehnit_madness is from the United States, the most likely place s/he has heard the name Misa is in the series Death Note, which is currently being syndicated on Cartoon Network. Amane Misa's name in the series is written as 弥 海砂, according to Wikipedia. In the case of those particular kanji, what would her name mean?
