[Opinions] Rocio
Thanks to another poster I'm totally in love with the name right. I will probably use it as a middle name and would love some ideas for first names. Just to clarify: Rocio is a female Spanish name. Also, what do you think of using Socorro as her sister's middle name? I've dug the name for years but haven't ever really thought of using it.I'm also in a bit of a rut and looking for new names. I'm pretty bored with my normal favorites - Theresa, Reuben, Nina, Margaret, Joshua - and would love some new and different names. My overall favorites that tend to remain are Veronica, Katarina, Liora, Raphael. More boys' names would be awesome.

Not the kind of name I'd use, but definitely nice. And, like all Marian names, it gives a strong Catholic vibe, so it should please X, right? :)

Wow, I really love your taste in names, and I'm so glad you've picked up Rocio. I love Spanish religion-related word names (that sounds really specific, but really, it's a big category!). Socorro has never been a favorite of mine for whatever reason, but I think if you're going to use a theme, Spanish religion-related word names as mns is a great one. Other names from that category: Dolores (pains...sounds like a bad meaning, but it's not!), Mercedes (mercies), Pilar (pillar), Belen (Bethlehem), Soledad (solitude...again, sounds like a bad meaning, but it's not), Piedad (piety), Amparo (shelter), Remedios (remedies), Angeles (angels), Cruz (cross), Consuelo (consolation), Candelaria (Candlemas), Candela (candle), Carmen (Carmel), Alba (dawn), Emperatriz (empress), Esmeralda (emerald), Gracia (grace), Luz (light), Milagros (miracles), Nieves (snows), Paloma (dove), Paz (peace), Reina (queen), Rosario (rosary), Azucena (madonna lily), and Trinidad (trinity). Here are some other suggestions of names you might like from my list:
Adelina Adeline Aida Almudena Beata

I love Rocio. These are all beautiful names. To me they are in the same category as Puritan virtue names in that they are meaningful and classy so they will never go out of style (unless, that is, they become fillers which is a shame).I adore Consuelo (Conso nn), Alba, Paloma, Soledad, and Rosario the best. Thanks for the great list!

Rocio and Socorro look very nice on paper but to tell you truth I don't know how the names are pronounced, so I can't give a fair opinion. As for new names you could fall in love with...How about Ambrose, Leonard, Malcolm, Rainer, Raymond, Roland, Sebastien and Wilhelm.
