I love Gus (as you probably already know). I don't care for it as a full name, but I love it as a nn for August, Augustus, Angus, Augusten, etc. August is my favorite, and I like August even without a nn, actually. I love both Henry August and August Henry (and I think you do as well :b), but I'm afraid both are on the rise. August Henry does seem a bit more interesting (and not as likely to be overused soon) to me than the former, though.
I never thought much about the name Gus until a few years ago when I became obsessed with a tv show called "Queer As Folk". A lesbian couple on the show named their son Gus (it was between that and Abraham, and one guy commented that he'd get teased for Abraham but not Gus), and at first I thought, 'Ewww, Gus?!' But seeing the cute little boy on the show grow up for 5 years, the name really grew on me. I don't associate the name only with him, nor would I be naming my child after him/that show in any way, it just helped me appreciate the name more. ;)
