[Opinions] WDYTO Maud?
I've been thinking about this name lately, and I've grown rather fond of it (in part, because of Maud from An Old-Fashioned Girl by Louisa May Alcott). Is it too old? Too...something? Also, what would you pair it with?

I think Maud is not very pretty, and sounds too harsh. Emma, Grace, and Hannah are old names, but they are quite common, and accepted.Maud sounds too old lady as well.

I adore it, and I know a child name it.It's incredibly spunky and just beautiful. Maud Valentine is fabulous to me.

I like that a lot!

I really like Maud, but I think it looks awful without the 'e." So I like Maude. It's so sweet and would make a great middle name or first name. Personally I like Joanna Maude. Here are some combos (hope you like some, sorry for repeats)Maud Jeannette
Maud Elise
Maud Alexandra
Maud Timothea
Maud Terese
Maud Louise/a
Maud Rachelle
Maud Rebekah
Maud Aurelia
Maud Suzanne
Maud Estelle
Maud Geneva
Maud Geraldine
Maud Serena
Maud IsabelleHmmm . .. it's easier to find combos with Maud as a middle name.

Ooh, Maud Aurelia is pretty. And Aurelia was the character Colin Firth fell in love with in Love, Actually. I'd forgotten about that name, but I've always found it pretty.

I want to like it but can't...I just find the sound really unappealing, plain and very old-fashioned without having any sort of vintage charm. Perhaps Maude would be a slightly nicer spelling? It does have a great namesake in L.M. Montgomery, (known as Maud), who wrote the Anne of Green Gables books. Also, it was fairly fashionable in France around 10-15-20 years ago. There are a fair few lovely young girls named Maud wandering around France at the moment, which I find really weird.

See, I only like it Maud - Maude, to me, looks so much older. I have no idea why.And I'd forgotten about L.M. Montgomery, although I love her books, too. That does make the name even more appealing. I wonder if it was paired with the right middle name if it could come off more charming?

Please don't do this to a baby!
Maud is horrid! I say this despite the fact my grandmother and my great-aunt both chose this name for daughters. It's such a plain, off-putting, drab, old ladyish name.
The medieval English empress Matilda was really a Maud - the name Matilda was used in official records. Matilda would be a better alternative, and has the bonus of Tilly.

I think Matilda and Tilly are awful, so that's definitely out.

I think it is ok. But for me personally I would put it in the middle name slot.Louisa Maud would be cute. :)

Sorry, but Maud is one name that I really can't stand. I hate the sound of it and just find it rather dull, drab and ugly.

I always loved Maud it's sweet

Maud looks horribly incomplete to me, while Maude will be young even when she's killing herself at eighty years old. ;) Maude Julia is the first combo that comes to mind for me. I like how Julia regains some of its stateliness in the mn spot there.Maude Elise
Maude Ursula
India Maude
Maude Oriole
Daisy Maude
Maude Heloise
Maude Fiona
Maude Regina
Maude Sunflower (I just can't resist it)
Maude Lillian
Maude Virginia
Maude GloriaRemove the E if necessary, since you've noted you don't care for it, but I'm afraid my fingers automatically type M-A-U-D-E. ^^;;Array (Harold and Maude forever)

Maud Victoria
Maud Cecilia
Maud Eleanor
Maud Elizabeth
Maud Georgina
Maud Josephine

Maud Charlotte is very pretty! I also like Maud Cecilia, Maud Victoria, and Maud Josephine. Thanks!

No. Way too old lady-ish. Not even a nice old lady, a grumpy one. It wasn't even a good name when it was popular. Sorry. There is just nothing pretty about it.

I think it is cute. I like it either as Maud or Maude. I would pair it with something spunky but still classic.

I like it, but I prefer it spelled Maude-- that looks more complete to me. I've been pairing it with Rosalie lately, but as a middle name. I have a lot of trouble finding a nice middle name for it, but what about:Maud Rosalie
Maud Noelle
Maud Lily
Maud Olivia
Maud Elizabeth
Maud Genevieve
Maud Eleanor
Maud Penelope
Maud Danica
Maud Natasha
Maud Jacqueline
Maud Nicole
Maud Rochelle
Maud Dionne
Maud Julienne
Maud Isidora

For some reason, Maud spelled with an e just looks old. I'm odd *g*.Maud Rochelle is really pretty! Rochelle's not a name I would ever look twice at, but together, they sound really nice.
