[Opinions] nickname help!
I like Lili/Lily as a nickname for Caitlin but dont know if its too much of a stretch (not fond of just Cate). What do you think?
Also...what comes to mind hearing the names Lily and Rose?

Personally, I think Lily is too much of a stretch from Caitlin. If I knew a Caitlin called Lily I would assume the nickname came from somewhere aside from her name (like her middle name, or she was very fond of Lily's as a child or something...)If I met Lily and Rose as siblings I would think their parents were garden-mad. Individually, I think Lily is very cute and pretty, and Rose is sweet, but for some reason (and I really don't know why, given how popular Lily is at the moment!) it doesn't sound as 'fresh' to me as Lily does.

I dislike the name Caitlin in the first place, Lily and Caitlin seem like totally different names, so it could be hard tying Lily in as a nn, though as someone alrady said a nn can be anything. I know a girl called Olivia who calls herself Lil, and my s-i-l is named Catherine and we all call her Cate, so there you go.
I would much prefer Lily as the full name and skip Caitlin altogether.
When I think of Lily, I think feminine, beautiful, graceful.
For Rose, I think feminine, sweet, pretty.

Lili could work as a nn for Caitlin it is a bit of a stretch but a nn can be anything you want, it doesnt have to tie in with any particular name.
I knew an elderly woman called Kit by everyone who knew her but her real name was Harriet not Katherine , she got her nn from her childhood when her father used to call her Kitten
I alse knew a girl called Nicola who went by the nn Coco.
Lily and Rose are beautiful but having just read the last Harry Potter book I associate the names with that at the moment, this will fade though :)

I have to say I do think it's a bit of a stretch only b/c the 'lil' sound appears nowhere in the name Caitlin :( Sorry...
edited to correct spelling

I love Lily, but I do not think it works for Caitlin. The only thing they have in common is li. Lynne works but spelled lin. Catie maybe. Lily is my second favorite name and Rose is high up. I picture a blonde or red haired girl with green or blue eyes although for Lily I can picture a blonde with brown eyes.
