[Opinions] Re: Theodora.

Though pretty, Theodora is a little clunky but I still think it's fresh and doable. After all, Isabella and Isadora work. Theodora certainly can. I just hope it doesn't become the next Isabella or Alexandra which have a similar feel. Teddy is cute but nms. BTW, I used to have a friend in h.s. named Theodore Blair (fn and mn) and we called him Teddy Bear. He hated it, poor thing. ;-) Thora reminds me of thorax. I suppose I like Thea best which leads me to Dorothea which is just lovely, imo. For me, it seems to have a nicer flow. I don't find Theodora especially pretentious but its other forms, Teodora and Dorotea, might be if one didn't have those ethnic backgrounds. Otherwise, I'd be tempted to use them (that and dh thinks I'm weird for even suggesting them). I think they're truly beautiful.
Amarante -- Quite unusual; it would be a shame to reduce this to Amy.
Nyx -- dislike the sound and meaning
Katarina -- adore this; prefer Katerina
Mariah -- At one time, I loved it. Now I think Ms. Carey.
Philip -- doesn't inspire me at all
Alistair -- prefer Alexander
Alec -- prefer this as a nick for Alexander
