Message: "Utah" - Behind the Name

I just got back from a senior recital here on campus. There were different performers and such and one of them was a man named Utah (who played the bass). I thought it was a really interesting name. I've heard Montana and Indiana before and even Jersey, but never Utah. Wdyt?

BTW, he's a professor here at the university.

I lived in Utah for roughly two years and I thought you were going to show some birth announcements from there. It's truly the origin of some of the most bizarre naming I have ever encountered.

Utah for a male is...interesting. Perhaps there was Ute Indian in his ancestry.

Utah comes from the Ute Native American tribe it means "top of the mountain." So I've always been told. So, I looked it up and I found it means "People of the mountain." I live in this state. So while i'd never use it.... I love it.

Did you know actually I am in Utah right now? I got to BYU!
I'm in Provo, Utah.

Ugly name, though, IMO. Beautiful state though I'm looking at the mountains right now and the sunshine on them! (Though fading away).

Well. It's better than Idaho! :D

I wonder if it has some sort of significance to his family or something? Otherwise it seems ridiculous.
