Etymology of Tadhg
The accepted meaning of Tadhg as "poet" is not really accurate. More likely, it comes from the Celtic word Tazgo meaning badger.

I am very tired of people saying "I like Tadhg but just for the meaning." "Poet" is not a good meaning for a name - its appeal is SO gimmicky and easy. Also there are a LOT of people who are not poets, very much not, and they would do very badly with a middle name that meant poet.

*Looking it up, "Poet" is the more commonly accepted meaning, though it is more likely from Badger. And I liked the poet meaning not because I hoped a kid with the name would be a poet, but because my boyfriend already is. :B
