[Opinions] Petula, Carla, Edie
Replies
I have recently watched the film Factory Girl (starring Sienna Miller) about Edie Sedgwick which was set in the sixties and Petula Clark was a singer in the sixties so both names have a very sixties vibe to them. I don't mind Carla, in fact, out of the three names, that would be my favourite. I also like Karla.
I adore Edith, nn Edie. Edith transports me back into time to Anglo-Saxon England. I love names that do that. And the nn Edie is so adorable. Love it.
Petula is cute. It makes me think of Petula Clark, the 60's pop singer. Her nn could be Tula, like the character in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding."* It also reminds me of Petra which I find very elegant.
I've never been able to warm up to Carla, though. There's nothing wrong with it. It just seems harsh somehow. But I'd take it any day over Carly (ick).
* Yes, I know that character's name came from Fortula (sp?), not Petula. I'm just offering a potential nn for Petula.
