[Opinions] Norma
I came across the name Norma tonight. Its the name of a professor at my college. What do you think of it? Do you think it will come back as one of those 'old fashioned' names that are becoming trendy?

Too close to "normal" for me.
I could see it work for someone who loves Italian opera, as the name Norma comes from the opera "Norma". But I don't see it in accordance with today's trends: ln-as-fn, boy's names for girls and names from the 19th century.
"You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed."

I'd give Norma another 30 years to come back in fashion.. it just might. The only thing stopping it would be the word "normal," and that didn't stop it before. It seems to me like the peak of Normas are still alive, and the names don't usually "come back" till the last set of bearers are in the ground.

I don't really care for it. I think it is too plain for today's rejuvenated names which seem much more frilly and sophisticated.
I think Norma is a neat name, but I don't see it coming back. The names coming back right now have an almost "victorian" feel you them, you know? Like... If Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and PRejudice hosted a party, I would not be surprised if Sophia, Isabel, Charlotte, and Abigail were in attendence (especially Charlotte, as she was in the book, lol). However, Norma wouldn't be there. It's very much an early 20th century middle class American name in my eyes, and like Barbara and Shirley, for now it is staying out of style.
