[Opinions] Olivette?
I was searching around earlier for a name for a character and I stumbled across this one. What do you think of it? I think it's sort of a nice alternative to Olivia.

I don't like it. Why would anyone want to name their kid "all of it?" (which is what it sounds like to me). I can tolerate the name Olive but not Olivette...sorry!

OlivetI always thought Olivet was rather endearing. There is Mount Olivet, also known as the Mount of Olives.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Olivet

It sounds like a little olive to me. It also has the -ette ending, which makes it sound very dated and cutesy. I am not a fan, sorry.

Agreed...The character is sort of that way, and that's why I considered it. I think I might change it, but I'm not really too concerned right now. Thanks for your imput though!

Anything is a nicer alternative to Olivia(which i hate), "sorry if i'm being too harsh". I also like, Olivine!

Oh no, I agree. Olivia I like, but I don't really want to use it because it is so popular. Olivine is nice too, and I'll probably consider it instead of Olivette. Olivine seems to have a more finite ending.

Olivette sounds like a small olive or salad dressing that you'd have in a restaurant! If you're a fan of -ette endings (which I am), I suggest, Lisette, Yvette, Rosette, or Suzette as nicer alternatives.

That's the first thing I thought of.

Ha....a salad dressing.I suppose that would make sense. It would be better to use one of those names you suggested, but I sort of have to use a name that starts with an O. So it's either Olivette or Olivia or one of the tons of other O names I'm not really seeing as fitting.

HOw about...I really like Ocypete (pronounced Ok-sip-it-tee)its a name of a Harpy in Greek Mythology. I love the sound. The only other nice 'O' names that come to mind at the moment are; Orla and Octavia...

Thanks...Ocypete might be a bit too weird in the school setting. Orla might work though and I'll keep it in mind.
