LionelI've never seen anyone mention it here or on other names sites, or bring it up. What is your opinion?I can't really say I dislike it.

It's nice, very sophisticated. I like most of the leo-related names.

I like it, and I'm surprised it's not on my list - I thought it was. I'll have to go add it. It reminds me of Lionel Hampton, the jazz musician. My high school band goes to the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in Idaho every year and I had some of my best memories of high school at that festival, so it's a very positive association for me.

I've liked Lionel a good long time now, actually--but currently not quite enough to seriously consider (and thus post about here). I really like the idea of the nickname Lio (LYE-oh), too.My immediate association is of Lionel Jefferson from All in the Family and The Jeffersons, who's always been a favourite of mine. ("I'm gonna be a 'lectrical engineer!", et cetera--he's a smart-talking guy who can mock a bigot without him ever noticing, and I like that.) In general, though, the name just sounds like it'd belong to a cool guy, maybe the kind who could blow smoke rings and fit in perfectly at a jazz club.Array

Reminds me of Liono, a character from this weird show my dad watches that is stupid, imo. :)

Lionel Richie comes to mind. I really don't have an opinion either way. It's not a bad name, but it doesn't jump at me either.Edited for spelling.

I don't like the way it sounds. It just falls out of my mouth with a plain, flat tone and an accompanying grimace on the face.

I keep Lionel on my "maybe" list. Some days I think it's rather handsome, but other days when I close my eyes I can only see Lionel Ritchie. I doubt I would use it as a first name but it's got a nice flow to it when I don't rush through it and I expect it would make a nice middle name.

I hate it...it has always seemed so sappy to me. Besides that it seems kind of like a bad girls name with Lion and then the -el...but that is just a silly reason for not liking it. It's just a name that rubs me the wrong way
