I have been known to say both.

Mah-tie-as (probably the same way ma-THIE-as is pronounced, but I'm just typing it differently). And I like it a lot, I think it's different without being too untraditional.

I like it, but only pronounced mah-TEE-ahs. But I prefer Matias or Mattias.

I adore Matthias, pronounced either way, although I use ma-THIE-as. It sounds handsome and intelligent.
