Mary is lovely on its own without a nickname. Too bad about May it's lovely and has a regal touch to it with having been a nickname of a queen.
Mimi is kind of cute but I think it's actually cuter when a grandchild calls their grandma this.
Molly and Polly are traditional nicknames. Mare is an obvious and a nickname that has been used often in television (Rhoda calls her friend this on the Mary Tyler Moore Show).
My and Mia are a Scandinavian pet forms of Maria that would work well.
Maire is the Irish Gaelic form of Mary and Mairi is the Scottish Gaelic and either would work well as would Maureen which is the Irish exaggerated form. Maury in sound in how Mary / Marie is pronounced with an Irish accent. Mo is another nn used according to BtN but not that attractive.
Miri would be acceptable, it's a nn for Miriam hence Mary.
I saw in a book once a girl named Mary was called Marjorie by her Scottish uncle. This site doesn't link the names but I would. Marjorie, Margery, Marjie, Margie would all be acceptable imo. Maisie too is a form/nn for Margaret / Mairead and might work too.
I've recently seem the name Mim a couple times and usually use it as a nn for Miriam or Jemima on the game board. I think it would be acceptable as a nn for Mary too.
Marnie is a nn that I really love but haven't quite found a full name I'd love to use it for and so I think that would be alright.
Another suggestion would be to combine Mary, May or Mimi with the MN or part of the MN to create a nn. For instance if you were to use the combo Mary Isabella then Maybella or Marybella would be a nice nn.
