I think it's a nice name for a character in a book or something, but I don't think I would ever use it on an actual child. I picture a girl who is full of life, but is bored with the people she knows and the city she lives in. It isn't common at all where I live; I haven't met anyone named Ada. I don't think it needs a nickname, it's short enough.
