[Opinions] Does this nickname work? + a combo question
Madeline is one of my top names if I ever have a girl (MAD-uh-line, though, not like Madelyn or Madeleine.) I'm not too fond of the nn Maddie, though, seeing that every single little girl seems to be named that.
I was thinking of Ellie as nn for Madeline, but even that's getting popular. Does it work? And also, are there any other nicknames you can think of?
Also, another question. WDYT of Alice Katharina Hermione? I usually hate two middle names, but I like this one. Does it flow, or would it be better as Alice Hermione Katharina?

Eh. It is a nickname based of a syllable that is actually a schwa. I don't think it works very well.
I do like May for it a lot though. And I am surprised Minnie has not been suggested, though that would work better for Madelyn probably.
Alice Katharina Hermione is fine. It is very healthy. The flow doesn't bowl me over or anything, nor does it bowl me over the other way, but it is fine.

Ellie could work but considering all the Ella's, Elizabeth's, etc that now go by Ellie (and I'm in the UK but I know several just Ellie's and Ellie-May.. gross) and it just seems so boring to me now.
Madeline "May"
Madeline "Mimi"
Madeline "Molly"
Madeline "Mem"
Madeline "Miep" - LOL maybe this is unrealistic, but I love Miep :)
Madeline "M"
But if you wanted her as just Madeline, I'm sure it can be done.
Alice Katharina Hermione is long, but very pretty. Alice is gorgeous.

Ellie as a nickname for Madeline works technically, but it seems awfully contrived. You'd forever be explaining how you came up with Ellie as a nickname for Madeline. Addie is also a possibility, as is Adele.
Also, just some food for thought... Mädchen is the German word for 'girl', but also in German, pet forms of names are created by taking the root of a name and adding '-chen' (meaning 'little') to the end. For example, Gretchen means 'little Greta' or 'little Margretha/Margrethe'. If you really wanted to get creative with a nickname, Mädchen could possibly work for Madeline, using 'Mad-' (plus the umlaut) and '-chen'. It would be a double entendre of sorts.
As for the combo, I like Alice Katharina Hermione. I think it has the better flow and works better than Alice Hermione Katharina. Katharina seems like a forceful, dominant name, so it needs something light like Hermione to finish out the combo.

That's what I was thinking, too - I'd have to explain to everyone how I got Ellie from Madeline. :/ Mädchen is cool, too. Not sure that I'd use it, but a very interesting possibility.
