Margaux was taken from the name of a wine-producing village outside Bordeaux and thus I don't see it as "authentic".
I like the French
Marguerite but it seems, like
Margaret, to be regarded as hopelessly outmoded. If I was to use
Margot (after all, that is the authentic spelling!) I'd only use it as a nn for
Marguerite (though
Daisy might be a nn contender too!).
