Help[Opinions] Harper
I've really begun to like the name Harper for a girl. Yes, I know it's a surname. Please don't waste your time telling me. Harper is actually my last name and I would consider using this for a daughter once I'm married (and my name is changed) and have children. To me, it would be a variation on naming my daughter after myself. It wouldn't be meant to honor the family name b/c I have a different surname than my other siblings and I do not speak to my father. What do you think?

I love it. I think it's pretty, and it makes me think of my favorite book, To Kill a Mockingbird.

I love the name Harper!

Usually names like Harper for a girl are NMS. However, in your case since it is a family name I can tolerate it a little more.

I started liking Harper for a girl after 'Angels in America'. I just love the character.

I think that's a subtle way of naming your daughter after yourself, which I have no problem with, so long as it's not confusing. As for the name, I too like Harper on a girl, but it's one of the few of those kind of names that I do like, usually I hate surname-y names, especially on girls. Harper is an exception. I also like the name on a boy, but not quite as much.

I LOVE Harper for some reason, though I don't usually care for surnames as first names. I really think it's pretty. It reminds me of music and just sounds so graceful to me :-)

Wow, same here! The name makes me think of one of those images where you see angels playing harps or just someone who plays a harp. I'm not even religious..but I think it's a nice image!
