Lilac is one of my favorite names, but my family hates it. I guess they just don't see it's sweet yet quirky appeal! Like you, I don't like Lila near as much. It doesn't have the same spunky quality. Unlike you, I worry most about pronunciation problems. It seems people say Lilac many different ways (most commonly Lie-lock or Lie-lack). I myself say Lie-lack. Regardless, it's a very pretty name and hardly used.
