Help[Opinions] Nicknames
My best friend is having a baby in July and I'm going to be the Godmother. I'd liked to come up with a nickname for myself that my goddaughter can easily say (Joanie has always been a tough one for kids to prn.).
So I was thinking maybe:
Nonie - I get this a lot from little kids, prn. NO-nee or NON-ee
Joey - My niece calls me Joey
Jo
I'm not sure if I want to be Aunt ____ yet, that's something I have to discuss with my friend. Though she's always insisted that I be considered an "Aunt" to her kids. Anways, can anyone come up with anything else? Or which is your favorite from my list? By the way, I don't want to be called Johnnie, only my cousin Caleb gets to call me that :)

Nonie is pretty cute, and if that is what little ones tend to call you, it seems like a sound choice.
You could wait until she is talking and see what she comes up with herself(I had a cousin who called our greatgrandmother "Darlin'"), which would make the connection between you all the more personal.
If you end up as Aunt ___ you could alwasy shorten it to A.J. Or even go by Jay, though both seem a little too masculine.

Oh that is so exciting! I already have an Aunt name picked out for myself when/if Sarah has kids - they will all call me Auntie Em.
I think being called an Aunt would be awesome. My mom's friend Susan has always been Aunt Susan to us, and until recently I always kind of thought we were distant relatives. I think the Aunt makes us quite close.
I think that whatever the kid starts calling you will be fine and you will love it and find it very endearing - although I do endorse Aunt, Aunt Nonie would be so cute - but would like to throw Jojo and Jono out there. Now I'm really starting to consider being Aunt ___ since others have said it's a good idea. Aunt Nonie is a possibilty, but you're right, I love whatever she calls me. As long as it's not something embarrassing like Cow. My little niece Jaylee kept trying to call my mom Kat, but she couldn't say her Ts correctly and she would call her Cow all the time. She also called my stepdad CaCa instead of Papa :P
JoJo wouldn't work, I used to have a blue heeler named JoJo, and well ... she was a really dumb dog. She once jumped out of the bed of our truck going down in highway with a leash around her neck. I still don't see how that dog didn't hang herself.

Aw, my Auntie Joan just passed away. I miss her. Please be someone else's Auntie Joan, please?
I was going through old photos with her once. I found a picture of her and my mother as toddlers. She told me her nn back then was Dodo because my mom and the other kids couldn't say Joan. You could be Dodo! See, Auntie Joan is looking better, isn't it?

Sorry, in French and Russian word for the number one changes with the gender it modifies. I thought the same would be true for Spanish.

Jo sounds good to me. It won't take away from your niece's special (?) name for you, and doesn't sound like it could be a grandmother's nickname to me like Nonie does. Other options could be Annie, or something organically chosen by your godchild based on something he/she finds especially profound about you. Or your grandchild could surprise you by insisting on calling you Joanie.
By the way, I love your sig pic! I remember playing that version of The Oregon Trail when I was but a wee tot in the hospital. It was the only decent computer game available to me at that time, so I have fond memories of it.

Although Annie would be nice, it's my Granny's dog's name. And this dog is about 16 years old, she's deaf, blind, smells, and her teeth are falling out, not a good association. But thanks for your opinion anyways!

I like Jo. It's short and sweet. =) Nonie might also work but it reminds of a grandmother like 'nonna'.
