Leopold is a long time favourite of mine. It always gets placed in the mn slot for me, too, as my husband vetoed it as a fn. I've never been fully satisfied with any of my Leopold combos.
Of yours I'm liking August Leopold (though I would personally prefer Augustus Leopold) and Matthias Leopold.
I don't think the historical connections would be too much.
