pronounced 'REHN'. what do you think?

it's French, meaning 'queen'.

i'm really starting to like it. i've liked the nn 'Ren' for a long time, but never found a decent full name for it. this is perfect for that.

my number one girl's name is Liv, and boy's is Beren. would Beren, Liv & Reine make a good sibset?

any good combos you can think of from my favourites in my signature?
i'm considering two middle names. especially since two of my favourites are Neith and Aerin, that aren't really fn material.

I know a few women named Marie-Reine, almost always called just Reine. The reference (at least originally) is to the Virgin Mary, one of her titles being "Queen of Heaven".

I don't care for it in the sibset, but the name itself is lovely. I think Ren is harsh but Reine pronounced the same, is shiny.

I pronounce Ren and Reine differently

Ren is like Wren, but Reine has more of a Rh- sound at the beginning, and a slight stress on the -ne. Ren is more harsh sounding while Reine is lighter. Just me, though.

I like the sound, but I took French, so I can't disconnect it from the meaning. It's like naming a daughter Queenie in English. Just not really my style.

However, I think in an English speaking country, the vast majority of people won't immediately connect the name with the meaning. I think the sound is pretty (I like Raina, too), and I think Beren, Liv, and Reine work together well in a sibset.

My one issue is the nickname Ren - I loathe it. This is entirely because of the cartoon "Ren and Stimpy," but Ren bugs me so much. I also think Reine is so short that it does not need a nickname.

I would pronounce this "Rain" personally. And if I was going to name someone Rain I would spell it that way. "Ren" to me is Wren.

I don't like it, it's the same as if you named your daughter "Queen" or "Princess" which is not cute. It's awful.

I don't like it because 'reine' in French is not really pronounced like how Ren is said in English. I would love Wren though.

how is it pronounced?
i was under the impression 'e' was pronounced like the 'e' in 'bed', hence 'ren'. just like Seine is pronounced 'sen'.

Yeah it's the r that sounds different, it's a very French throaty R.

Reine is really my style of a name and I don't really like the nickname Ren. Liv sounds too much of a nickname to me. I do think that those three names are a good sibset. I think the name Beren's is a cute name for a little boy
