[Opinions] Holly.
Again, it's a name that very recently (this week) has started to grow on me. I love Hollis for a boy. but Holly also appeals to me, of course, on a girl.I do think it has a slightly stripper feel to it, but I can't shake it quite yet.

I think it is trashy personally. I don't think it helps that I have only ever known one Holly I liked and she spelt it Hollie so I could Hollies in a different category to Hollys. It does have a stripperish feel, doesn't age well and is trendy. NMSAA

ETAI *count* Hollies in a different category to Hollys. I really need to sign in so I can edit...

Very unremarkable.

Holly is a typical girl next door name to me, I've known so many. I don't see it as stripperish, just cutesy. But it's a lot better than Hollis on a girl.

I love Holly. It's a name I've personally started really loving, too. I know a Holly who isn't stripperish at all, if that helps any. She is a young elementary school reading teacher. I'd never associate the name with a stripper at all, actually. So all in all, it's a lovely name!

Insubstantial and tacky. But I might use it as a middle name for a girl born on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. But I'd probably end up using Noelle instead.

There are over hundred names I would put in the "stripperish" category before Holly. In fact I don't put Holly in that category at all. Holly is a very sweet and lovable name to me. I also wouldn't mind Holly as pet name for Hollis (which I think is a fantastic name). My brother actually knows a guy named Hollywood (real legal first name) and people call him Holly for short. I inquired if people tease Hollywood about having his name shortened to Holly and my brother states no one teases and Hollywood doesn’t have an issue with it.

SweetI like Holly. It's short, sweet, and I tend to like the ones I meet. It reminds me of names like Nora and Fiona--uncomplicated things that are easy to warm to if you consider them in the right light. The more I look at Holly even now the more I like it, I think.I enjoy Hollis as well. I think I like how they're heavy on the Ls and have that particular O sound.

It's really sweet. There's no stripper feel to it at all imo. Holly is a very popular, safe, Emma-style middle-class name here. I quite like it spelt Hollie.

I grew up w/ a Holly and she was always very nice & sweet. I like it. It doesn't remind me of a stripper at all.

I only like Hollis for a girl. I don't really like Holly (or Hollis on a boy).

I had to laugh out loud at the stripper comparison...I see where you're coming from with that, but to me it sounds less stripper-esque and more 1980's suburban. But then again, when I think of it in terms of what it actually means, it becomes romantic and slightly antique, which is nice. In that sense, I put it in the same category as Lucy or Frances.

Holly is a favorite of mine. I don't associate it with a stripper image at all.

I really like it. I've only ever met two girls named Holly, so it doesn't feel overdone to me. And both girls were very sweet so it's also doesn't have a trashy/stripper feel to it for me. I don't know that I quite like it enough for it to make my short list (especially as Molly is one of my favorite names and Holly and Molly are obviously too close) but I do like it a lot and I would love to meet a little Holly.
