[Opinions] Re: Joceyln/Joselyn?
in reply to a message by Brie
I love Jocelyn (this spelling only) on a girl. It is on my favourites list. It's got historical meaning in being from the name of a Germanic tribe. The spelling was changed because of misinterpretation of it a a double diminuitive of Joyce. That is so the history of English. It also means I can honour Joyce with this name and yet give the child their own name with it's own meaning and history.
I think Josie as a nn is ok. Though I'd be more inclined to nn Jocelyn as Joss. What about Jossy? It's like Josie just a short 'o' instead of a long one. If I met a Josie I would guess that their full name was Josephine and not Jocelyn.
