[Opinions] Jonah or Oscar
My friend's friend is pregnant, and has just found out it'll be a boy. She loves the name Jonah, and her partner likes Oscar.
I like both names, but which do you prefer?

Oscar!I really like it, but Jonah not so much. Jonas would be way better than Jonah.

Oscar, but ideally Jonas.

I also love both names, so for me it would depend on which one would sound the best with the surname. It would also depend on what mn (if any) they plan to use.

Jonah hands down.

Oscar, no questionI love the meaning and sound of Oscar, and it has some great namesakes.I'm so tired of the Jo- sound for boys, and I'm not a huge fan of the entire sound of Jonah and its meaning. Plus, I'm not really a huge fan of biblical names as is, so I'm predisposed to dislike it. Jonah reminds me of a whiny child. I strongly dislike the name.

I love both names! I suppose it depends on their surname too, but I think.......Jonah just makes it for me. I would love to see either!

Really, they can't go wrong, either one is a perfectly lovely name. However...Oscar! Oscar is second only to Frederick on my list. I absolutely adore it. That might be because of how much I am in love with Oscar Wilde. However. Oscar is a truly stunning name, and even though it's picking up usage is still uncommon and just a little bit surprising on a child. Oscar! If I may put a third option on the table, have they considered Yonah? I go back and forth on whether I like Jonah or Yonah better.

Jonah. It's way better...It's a shame the two names don't really work together. Jonah Oscar or Oscar Jonah sounds and looks odd.
But Oscar sounds terrible. It's no name for a child, imo.
Jonah fits for both kids and adults and I love it.

"It's no name for a child"Why? Why don't you think it's a name for a child? I know several Oscars my age. I can't see what's so wrong with it.

Subjective matter ;).Thinking about it again, yes, maybe. Maybe I, too, find it apt on a child.
But at first, I couldn't stand the thought of that ;).
I almost guess you've turned me around.

I love both names, but would probably choose Jonah as it's less popular. Jonah and Oscar would make a great sibset though.

I like both equally, but to me Jonah has a slight advantage of sounding less trendy. Oscar is pretty huge right now, at least where I am.
