Elaine is beautiful, dignified and it's so old and full of history - straight back to Arthurian legends. Elaina just seems modern and whiny in comparison.
But in general I prefer French versions, Anne gets my vote over Anna any day. I would swoon to meet a little Elaine "Lainey"
