[Opinions] Tessy
Tessy has been on my mind more and more lately, not as a nickname of T(h)eresa, but as a stand alone. What do you think of it?My combo of choice is Tessy Samantha, which is odd because I loathe Samantha usually, lol. So, you can tell me what you think of the combo, too. :)

I think it's nauseatingly cutesy. Can you truly picture Supreme Court Justice Tessy Carson? President Tessy Robertson? Sorry.

I find Tessy Samantha very hard to say without spitting. Maybe something less Ss-sy in the middle. I really like Dot's suggestions: Tessy Florence, Tessy Margaret & Tessy Josephine. Creepy assocation:
My Great Auntie May had her sister in law living with her when I was a small girl; Tessie. Creepy old lady, always bedridden, had that low, gravelly voice that you hear in horror flicks. She scared the bejeezus out of me before I turned 5. Not a pleasant assocation for me, so Tessie/Tessy is right out. I do think it would be a cute nickname for a tiny Theresa/Therese/Teresa. And Tess works beautifully on an adult too. Theresa Florence, Theresa Margaret, Theresa Josephine would thrill me to no end! :D

I think Tessy is cute and because I love both Tess and Tessa, I think Tessy is gorgeous too.

Not a fan of Tessy, but I like Tessa or just Tess.

For some reason, my mouth won't do Tessy Samantha- I trip over it or come out saying Tessy Samanthy (which is quire easy to say). Part of the problem is that all those 's'es run together.I think it needs a firmer middle name. Tessy Samantha is just very cutesy. Maybe Tessy Margaret, Tessy Florence, Tessy Josephine, Tessy Henrietta, Tessy Dorothea, Tessy Norma?I would really rather see Tessy as a nn myself. If not for Theresa, then even for Tess.

On a scrabble site I play at regularlyThis is an incredibly crazy young female named Tessie. Beyond crazy. She's been there for years under various different names....and now I can't help but picture here with the name. It belongs to an incredible nut-case stalker with no sense of boundaries. It's unfortunate. Tessy is cute, and I think in today's society it could work really well. Tessy Samantha is a bit too cutesy-ootesey for me, though. Tessy needs something more...grounded. Tessy Katarina?

Oh dear, another unfortunate association to add to Array's, lol. Hmmmm, Katarina is pretty, but it's a version of my own name and I don't know if I want any child named for me, LOL! I'll give it some more thought, though. So, I should sty away from online Scrabble? ;)

ISC...Is like an less-educated, more hormonal, more obsessed version of BtN. :-D I enjoy it immensely, merely because riling them up is far too easy. :-D

ROTFLMAO. Crack me up...

DDD:I immediately think of Tessie in Shirley Jackson's short story "The Lottery," and anyone who's read that will know why it makes me go woefaced. DDD:Tessy Samantha has a fine sound--my inner seven year old, who looooved Samantha, approves--but I really can't get over the association.Array

EekI hadn't thought of that. Now that you brought it to my attention...ew. Just ew.

I'm quite familiar with The Lottery -- it's such a harrowing story!

Oh noes! Damn those unfortunate associations. :( It's the main reason why I don't love Jessica. I should like it, but the mental images I get when I hear/read/say the name put me off it.

It's cute but I prefer Tessa.-Kitty

Tessy Bear, from Enid Blyton's Noddy stories, is what first comes to mind. I think it has a nice sound, but is a bit too cutesy as a stand alone.

Interestingly enough, I had a great-aunt named Aunt Tessy. This was not her given name. My grandfather gave her the nickname (he nicknamed all his in-laws) and it just stuck. Everyone knew her by Tessy and not her real name which was Clarissa. So for me, Tessy is a very tender and loved name in our family.Honestly, I would not pair it with Samantha. For some reason it does not make sense to me and does not flow, IMO. Like I have said before, am not good with pairing mn with fn (have always left that up to my husband)... but IMO, I would think that a one syllable strong mn would go better than Samantha.

I like it and as she got older she could easily go as Tessa if she really wanted. I'm a fan of Samantha and i think Tessy Samantha sounds great :-)

I love Tess, but Tessy just seems so babyish. Tessy Samantha is a cute combo; it sounds like a character out of a book.

I don't like it. It sounds too frilly for my personal taste and too nickname-y to stand alone.

I think it's too nicknamey and cutesy as a full name. I'd only use it as a nickname to be honest. What about Tessa?

I don't really like Tessa, unfortunately. Love Tess, but hate Tessa. I think it's because I knew a rotten girl named Satessa in high school, and her friends called her Tessa for short. I just can't get passed that fact. :(

It is bright and happy!
I don't loathe Samantha anymore, I used to think it was fat and lame, but now I like it as - okay it is a bit rebellious, but since it's the "el" that means God in hebrew names Samantha is like Samuel but with Antha instead of El, it is a bit like - it reminds me of Shelley's sinful Ode to the West Wind, in which slyly replaces traditional religion with images of Spring and Wind. "name of Flower" or "Flower has heard."For some reason Thessy prn Tessy is appealing to me. ???Tessy's cute but a bit too cutesy for me. Of course all nicknames are too cutesy for me as full names, so there you go. Tessy Samantha is lovely.

Oh man, there was a Th- name that I wanted to get your opinion on. It was one of those relatively obscure names that are also totally cool because they are obscure and have neat histories (a la Sophonisba), but I can't think of what it is for the life of me! When and if I do, I'll post it. :)

I prefer the spelling Tessie, personally. Probably due to the fact that I am a diehard Red Sox fan. Anyway...
Tessy Samantha is a cute combo. However; I do think Tessy on its own is a bit childish. But then, she could always just use Tess when she got older.

Yeah, I've toyed with Tess nickname Tessy...but Tessy just sounds so wonderful right now.It might just be a passing fancy. ;)

I admire Tessy/Tessie as a nickname.
