Love it as well as Kat -- it has a very sassy sound to it. Kitty is cute.

It's cute, and better than Kitty overall, which sounds a bit childish.
Love it, obviously
I think it's much more interesting and unexpected than Kat. Of course, I'm extremely biased. (I don't go by Cat in real-life, but it's my online monkier of choice.) As well, I think if you're going with a C variant of the Catherine family, it's less forced than Kat or Kitty. I prefer it to Kitty. It sounds more grown-up.

Cat is my favorite nickname for Catherine.
And Kate is my favorite nickname for Katherine.
I could live with Kat for Katherine.
But Cate for Catherine just looks odd to me. Maybe I'm just not used to it.

I'm used to seeing it spelled Kat, and prefer that, but Cat for Catherine doesn't bother me as much as Kate spelled Cate. I actually like the association with the animal, so it's okay because of that.
I do think Kitty is cute, though. No one uses it anymore. I'm sick of Katie, Kitty or Kat would be much more interesting.

I do not like the nickname Cat or Kitty. I'm not fond of nicknames in general but I especially don't like these ones
My sister is Kathleen and she goes by Kat.. which I love!
I love it! I went to college with a girl named Catherine, nicknamed Cat, and I thought it was so cute and refreshing. I can remember complimenting her on her name, and complimenting people on their names is not something I do often, mainly because I've known very few people who have names I think are really worth complimenting. But I just loved her nickname.
I guess it could work, but I'm not fond of it, simply because it is first and foremost, my housepet. lol Sometimes, when we're annoyed with him, we call Bud Cat. Phillip did earlier this evening when Bud tripped him up: "Move, Cat! Go sit somewhere!"
