[Opinions] Eleanor or Elinor?
Which is best? Eleanor sounds more elegant and overall I prefer it, but Elinor has a "plain" charm to it, and it's the name of one of the protagonists of "Sense and Sensibility".

Elinor! It's my second favorite girl name at the moment. For some reason that spelling looks the best to me.

I prefer Eleanor, though I also admire Elinor.

EleanorEleanor is sophisticated and gorgeous and looks both soft and strong at the same time. Elinor looks like a lazy redition of Eleanor, like someone felt the need to spell it phonetically. I know that it isn't, but it looks awful to me.

Wow that's really hard...I love the way Elinor looks but I like that Eleanor reminds me of the song "Eleanor Rigby" (I'm a bit of a Beatles fan, lol). I'm going to say Elinor, though.

I actually prefer Elanor to both, but of those two I prefer Elinor. The "Ele" in Eleanor makes me think of an elephant. :/

Does Ella make you think of an elephant.?Because it does me. That's why I don't like Ella. I've always thought it was so unnattractive, and don't understand its popularity.

From a truly unbiased perspective :) mEveryone will misspell Elinor. At least in Britain, where Eleanor has been steadily used for decades. So I'd only go with the 'i' if you really like it that way and don't mind correcting people. As for me ... I don't much care for my name but I do like the spelling.

I've been worrying this one over myself right now. Eleanor / Elinor is my 3rd current favourite. I think I'm leaning towards Eleanor myself - I don't hear much of a difference myself though, for me they're just different spellings. Elinor has the appeal of 'Sense and Sensibility'. Gach, it's far too difficult for me!Eleanor / Elinor is a beautiful name anyways! Do you have a combo for it? I need one, LOL. I was thinking of Eleanor Sara or Eleanor Elizabeth (my sister is Sarah Elizabeth Liberty and my favourite book is by Sara Gruen) or maybe Eleanor Rose (Roseanna is my best friend). None of them really stand out to me though.

Eleanor..Elinor has always seems wrong to me.
I like Elanor because of the Tolkien connection, but Eleanor looks the most correct.

I agree with you and I'd say Elinor just because it's less popular overall. It looks different without seeming created or contrived.

I far prefer Elenore and Elenor to all other spellings of the name, actually, so I don't know if I can be any help. :P But between Eleanor and Elinor, I've always liked the former more.Array

I was going to say ElinorExactly because of the Sense and Sensibility character. But I also love the Eleanor Roosevelt connection, being American. But, overall, Elinor. I think it looks younger and fresher, and I love the character too much to use any different spelling. I also like i's. They look spunky to me, and lend the name a whole different feeling, one which I like better.
