[Surname] Re: Spolidoro

This is so much like the more common Italian surname Polidoro that I have to wonder if there is a connection. But how to explain the initial S?
I thought it might be from a place-name, but I haven't found one.
I don't think it is a very common name in Italy, by the way.

It is typical of Southern Italy of the surrounings of the city of POTENZA, about 200 km south frpm NAPLES.
I agree: it could be a wrong spelling of POLIDORO. Both surnames are beared in the same area in fact.
Polidoro comes from a given name "Polidoro".
