Gorgeous!I love Raquel! It has an air of sophistication to it. It is a strong name...definitely not a wall flower. I tend to think of Rachel as pretty but boring. Raquel is much more attractive to me as a name.

I think it's very nice but I think it works best when the bearer can really "carry" it well. In other words, I don't think the name Raquel could work on just anyone.

I love it, but it isn't one I would use.

I really dislike Rachel, but I think Raquel is lovely. :)

It's lovely for Hispanic surnames but I wouldn't use it otherwise. With Anglo surnames it sounds tacky, and is just too reminiscent of a certain film - sorry, movie - star!

I love Raquel. The "raych" sound of Rachel always grates on my nerves. But the "rock" sound of Raquel is wonderful to my ears. I find Spanish names in general to be very regal and proud sounding and Raquel is no exception. Raquel deserves more attention than it gets. P.S. Wow. I just read the other posts. How differently I view the name from others. I'm used to that, but I didn't expect it in this case.

I never really been too keen on it, I much prefer Rachel.

The first thing I think of is the mind-numbingly stupid girl in my class named Raquel. The second thing I think of is Raquel Welch, who is nice, but not someone I'd want associated with my child, since she's very over-sexed.So, ditsy and trashy, basically. I don't like the sound either. It sounds like it's trying way too hard to be exotic.
