[Opinions] Alma.
Wdyt? I'm currently really liking it and wondering what others think of it.

I really like it. I have a strange, but good association with it.
I thought of it as "too old" and a bit plain and frumpy for a while, but have never met one and never associated it with anyone specific with it. Since seeing "Brokeback Mountain" (and reading the short story), I associate the name with that character, and though she wasn't the happiest of people, I like the name more for it. It still doesn't have the loveliest sound to my ear, but I'd be pleased as punch to meet a really little Alma one day.
Also somewhat distorting my opinion of it is that I knew a little boy for a while named Alva, so I think of him, even though Alma isn't masculine at all. :b

It reminds me of the Crimean war battle of Alma - cause of many a street name in Britain and Australia.
It also reminds me of Alma Cogan, the British singer of the 1950s.
I also think of almonds!
I don't hate it but it seems dated.

Quaint and homey, verging on boring. I picture it as being the plain sister of Sadie and Mamie. It's not bad but bland. I couldn't see myself really loving it.
I think it's beautiful and haunting. It has a kind of mystical quality to it, don't you think? It's both old-fashioned and fresh-sounding so it has great potential to someday be a really popular name. I wonder if it's hit the US Top 1000 list yet? *Goes to check*
It's my maternal grandmother's fn. I'm not a huge fan of it though.
Its a good name for a brainy little girl.
Alma's lovely.
Alma! I adore Alma. It's so beautiful and sweet. I actually know an Alma and it fits her perfectly.
Ok, this is totally random and will make no sense to anybody who wasn't in my Spanish class last year, but I'll tell you anyway. In the cheesy video that went along with the book, we were following the story of a girl named Alma Cifuentes, who moved from San Antonio to Miami and fell for a guy named Francisco... it was sickening lol. Anyway, we hated the videos, so we had an ongoing joke, in which this hilarious kid would shout out, "ME GUSTA COMER ALMA CIFUENTES!" everytime we were about to watch the movie. It means I like to eat Alma Cifuentes. I know, stupid, right? But it was just something about the horrible movies and the hilarious kid that made it so funny. Anyway, that is my first reaction to the name Alma. It's a nice name, but I'm not sure if I could ever get over that no matter how stupid it is haha!
It's nice for a girl. I wouldn't use it, though.
I think it's pretty enough, but I prefer similar-sounding Elva so much that Alma is a bit outshone for me personally.
I'd be pleased to meet one, though. It's rather tranquil-sounding to me.
