[Opinions] German Names
Watching some films recently, both contained German actors but most had more English like names, e.g Adrian and Oscar but there were two that stuck out- Torben and Florian. Just wondered what everyone thought. Florian sounds a bit girlish to me but both were extremeley handsome actors, so I love them!! (Florian Panzner and Torben Liebrecht)

I love Adrian as a "German name." kwim?Florian used to be one of my favorites, back when I was into loftiness and -n. now it's a bit- lofty. Torben I find boring because of the very trendy -n (in america) and because I a not engaged by the other syllables. I find Adrian's other syllables engaging.

Florian's long been a favorite of mine. Too girly for the States, but I still love it. Oscar's gotten too popular for me, I hear it far too often and I'm gettting tired of him already. Adrian's forever cool and Torben's got a great sound, even if it does remind me of the words turbine, torpid & turgid by assocation. Odd.

Well, my favorite of those mentioned is definitely Adrian. Oscar will forever be "the grouch" to me, and I agree that Florian sounds girlish. It could definitely work if he wore it well (as I'm sure Florian Panzner does ;) ), but I could never use it. Torben I think sounds really cool...it's my second favorite of the names here, but that's just because I really like Adrian.

Florian is the name of one of the main characters in a story I am working on right now. I like it very much. Torben is nice too.
