I have a close friend named Rosie. Her full name is Raisa, which is Yiddish for rose. I think it's a brilliant idea to give the nn Rosie to a name that means rose in another language, whatever language you pick. Her name is Raisa Rachel, if that helps. Sometimes I think alliterition is good, and it seems to work with the letter R.

Yiddish pronounciationMy grandmother's Yiddish name was Raisa Baila, pronounced RAY-zah BAY-lah. It worked well, IMO. I would definitely consider it when I start having kids!
