[Opinions] Scout
What is your opinion on Scout for a girl? I keep changing my mind whether I like it or not. Any combo suggestions?
Thanks

I love it.

Even if it was just a nn in To Kill A Mockingbird, it made such a great impact on me after reading it, that I wouldn't mind seeing Scout on a girl or even using it if I have a daughter.

Its okay for a dog, bad on a person

Dog nameEven "To Kill a Mockingbird" can't drag that image off. Besides, so many people are out of touch with good literature that the reference just goes right over their heads. Scout should probably not be at the top of your list, since it probably won't be taken too seriously at the top of a resume.

My brother wants to name his daughter Scout. I love the character, but even she had a real name (Jean Louise). Hopefully, I'll be able to talk him out of it.

NN onlyAnd even then, it's not my favorite.

I don't like it for a girl or boy.It makes a cute nn for either gender, but doesn't seem substantial enough as a full name.

I don't like it. It makes me think of gout.

I think it's cute, but it clearly won't be "cute" forever, so I wouldn't ever use it. I couldn't picture a 40 year old women named Scout. I like it, and could tolerate seeing it on other children. But it seems too much of a nickname, or a name for a dog. A few years ago, there was a girl in my camp named Scout, and no one believed it was her real name.

No way!It was cute in To Kill A Mockingbird, but even then it was a nn. Can you imagine a 40-year-old professional named Scout? It's a nn in childhood or a name for your dog, not a full name.

as a nickname maybe but I think it sounds more like a pets name, sorry. I don't like it for a proper name on a human whatever the gender.

I quite like it on a girl, it's kinda spunky. But I think it would work better as a nn, like it was in 'To Kill A Mockingbird'.

I don't like itI think it makes an interesting nickname, not a full name. This goes for boys too. I get reminded of "scourge" and it rhymes with "stout","trout" and "gout". They maybe silly reasons to avoid it but I don't find much redeemable about Scout I'm sorry. Definitely pair it with something obviously feminine.

I love it on a girlA girl dog that is.It's my dog's name.On a person? Obviously not for me. But on someone else's kid I could handle it.Ideas:Isabelle Scout

It's actually hard to match as a fn.
