[Opinions] I'd love Pompey if it were Pompeii
in reply to a message by CN
I honestly adore place names, but I like bizarre place names rather than names like Brooklyn or London. Some of my favorites include Sarajevo, Aegean, Constantine (which I somewhat consider a place name), Montserrat, Harajuku, Celtae, Zurich, Thebe and Alaska. I really wouldn't be likely to use names like these, but they're still cool and fun to make combos with. But Etienne on a girl? GAH! What the heck was wrong with them!?

But Pompey is a person's name, as in the historical character: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pompey so it's more legit than Pompeii. Incidentally I don't know if a city destroyed by an eruption would be a great name for a child.

After reading Looking For Alaska by John Green, I'm quite partial to the name as well. Have you read it? If you haven't, you should.

Never heard of it, what's it about?

A girl named Alaska, and the people touched by her life. I just thought it was a really funny and genuine read. These will sum it up better than I can:

Figuring you're one of the best to ask...What are some names of cities, countries, places, natural or manmade landmarks, etc. that you would consider good for a name? I have a list of some that I like in my profile, but definately have been looking for some more. I'm just assuming that you're one of the most likely people here to have ongoing lists of them lol. You can reply here or just PM them to me if you want. Thanks, Sabrina!
