I don't mind it, but that's only because I like a guy with Herbert as his surname!

I don't like it. I feel it's too nerdy and it's not ripe for a comeback just yet. Herb sounds like the nn of an old man. Herb would be better if Americans prn the word "herb" like Herb; then it would at least sound like a nature name.

There was a kid who lived on my block with the middle name Herbert, and we teased him mercilessly about it. We called him Herbert the Pervert just to piss him off...so, yeah, I can't really get behind the name.

*stars in eyes* Someone else likes Herbert!I love Herbert. I love it precisely because it's old and dusty and ridiculous-sounding. I wish I knew someone named Herbert. It would make me so happy.I don't like Herb. Bert is my preferred nickname. Which is sad, because I could never use both Ernest and Herbert (Ernie and Bert!). Oh well.

Herbert's a good name and I like it but it's too dated for use today, imo. It could be a good mn, but I hate the nick names 'Herb' and 'Herbie'.

Herbbie is cute, but the nn Herb isn't my favorite. What about Bertie as a nn? I love "old" names too, so Herbert one gets the thumbs up from me.I actually prefer Humbert, and better yet, Umberto. :-)
