Matt’s best friend recently died of cancer. Do you adopt her two daughters? They are nine and six.

Matt was devastated to learn that his best friend, Tommy Quinn had colon cancer. Matt and Tommy had grown up together and were inseperable until they got married. The pair kept in close touch and Matt was there for his friend when Tommy's wife was killed in a car accident. Tommy's two daughters got along well with Siran and Izzy and Tommy's family was a frequent visitor at the Thoresen household. Tommy passed away eight months after his diagnosis. Matt knew that Tommy had wanted his girls to live with their grandparents, so he took the girls there. Unfortunately, Tommy's parents were too old to really take good care of the girls. Matt worked out with the grandparents that he and Faith could raise the girls and the grandparents could visit as often as they liked. So, not only did Matt and Faith adopt Emily and Rachel, but they also got a third set of grandparents. All of this happened just a year after Jonny was born. Faith is feeling a bit overwhelmed taking care of four little girls and Jonny, but she would not trade her hectic life for anything.
