Looks like a variation of Avi, which I pronounce AH-vee (like the author). I like it for either sex okay, but I prefer it on a boy (and on a girl, I'd rather see it as a nickname).Array

The person's last name was Kaufman so I looked it up on google and it is a girl. Spelled Avi, the name is Jewish and Kaufman is a Jewish last name so I guess her parents decided to feminize Avi a little and use it on a girl. :P I prefer it on a boy, though.
