[Opinions] Hamilton
I generally hate surnamey names, but this is growing on me and I'm tempted to put it in my PNL (though I doubt I'd actually use it, for various reasons). I love the sound of it, and I find it looks classic (possibly because of the Alexander Hamilton association?) rather than trendoid like most surnamey names, in spite of the oh-so-fashionable "ton" ending. WDYT?

Hamilton is a city in New Zealand and it sort of has a reputation for being a bit dull. I doubt that would bother you though! (sorry, it was just my immediate thought)I think it would be okay as a middle name, but I really can't imagine it as a first name. As others have pointed out, Ham isn't the most attractive nn.

I love Hamilton as a middle name! I definitely plan to use it one day, partially to honor my mom, since she always wanted to use it as a middle name for a son. I find that it has a very handsome, classic sound to it, and isn't trendy the way other surnames are. I don't think it works as well as a first name, though.

I've always thought that Hamilton was a rather pretentious name. I suppose he could be called Hamil or Hamit, though.

I rather like it, but I associate it with Hamilton the pig from Maggie and the Ferocious Beast. Ham would be an unfortunate nn, though.

I find it very handsome as a full name, but I'd be wary of my son being called Ham.

I agree with jeziana. It's okay, but nms. It is my father's middle name, as it is a family name which has been passed down. It still hasn't grown on me enough to want to use it yet.

It has a good sound, but it's slightly pretentious. And as a Brit and Formula 1 fan my thoughts will fall towards driver Lewis Hamilton.
