I'm not from the states so pretty much everything I say could be disregarded...
But anyways, I used to know a girl called Anastasia (she wasn't Russian) and she pronounced it Anna-STAH-zee-a, and went by Stahz mostly. For the longest time I thought everybody was calling her Stars.
I think if it isn't very common in the states (I haven't checked popularity) then you can just tell people right what way you want it to be pronounced.
That said, my own name has two legitimate pronounciations and it does get a bit tiresome having to correct people all the time.
