[Opinions] Nicknames
Obviously people give their children nicknames like
Katherine nn Katie or John nn Jack or Robert nn Robbie but would you ever give your child a nickname like Chip or Buzz or Peanut or Glitter or something like that to indicate maybe a piece of their personality? For example I have an aunt whose nn is Kitty because she use to play with kittens alot and get scratched and stuff. Her name isnt Katherine. Alot of people do give crazy nicknames to their kids

My husband, Kevin, was called George due to his love of Curious George. Sure George isn't the same as Peanut, but it did suit his personality. Our daughter Cecily is called Bear (or little bear), which does not describe her personality in the least.I think nns like Pumpkin, Peanut, etc are fine for younger kids- I can even understand parents using them on occasion for older children- but for use outside immediate family and on adults, I would find ridiculous.

Well, isn't that sort of like Miley Cyrus? I probably wouldn't, but I know plenty of people that have. No examples come to mind though.

Of course! I give my pets tons of off-the-wall NN's. But I would never plan on calling my child Peanut or BooBoo, NN's like that have to come naturally. Some of my pets:
Kelye NN Beastie (her personality) or White Lighting (when she did agility)
Megan NN Magpie (her coloring) or Muggsie (don't ask)
Gizmo NN Thunder (because of how loud she walks)

Well my parents used to call me Pooh due to my love for Winnie the Pooh. THey STILL sometimes call me that and I'm in my 20's.

Well, my middle name is Katelyn, so my dad calls me Kat (pronounced Cat), but he is like the only one.

My older cousin called me Peanut when I was little. It was okay for a while, but as I got older it was kind of annoying. I really don't like nicknames like Chip or Buzz. It may sound cute when they're little kids, but as they get older it sounds silly. I have a cousin who has three kids names Brittanie, Richard, and Trenton. Instead of being called their real names, they are called NeeNee, Buggy, and TenTen. Which I know aren't the same as Peanut and Boo, but they still sound ridiculous.
