[Opinions] Pleasance
What do you think of Pleasance? I discovered it about a week ago as the middle name of Alice Liddell, the girl who influenced the title character of Alice in Wonderland. I particularly like how it's a word name, yet it's not really a "word" anymore. =P It gives it a certain awkwardness and Purtain air that I enjoy. But mostly I just find it really classic and youthful and think would be perfect as a middle name.Thoughts on Pleasance? Thoughts on the combo Julia Pleasance Evelyn as well? Thanks. =)

I like it as a middle name. Personally I prefer Plaisance (play-ZAHNTZ) and this is my first association:"Queen Plaisance of Cyprus, born Plaisance of Antioch or Plaisance de Poitiers (1235/1236 or ca 1235 – September 27/22, 1261) was a daughter of Bohemund V of Antioch and his second wife, the Italian noblewoman Lucienne dei Conti di Segni, kinswoman of Pope Innocent III. She became Queen consort and Queen regent of the Kingdom of Cyprus and acting Regent of the Kingdom of Jerusalem between 1236 and 1261."

I like it well enough as a MN. Julia Pleasance sounds nice.

I was watching a British TV show some weeks ago, in which a "celebrity" traces their roots. I can't remember which celeb was featured, but I do recall that they went to a church in Suffolk, and the priest showed them the old church register - the name Pleasance was the name of at least one of the female ancestors.
I've never heard it before - except as the surname of actor Donald Pleasance.
It has a pleasant meaning (LOL) and I love Julia in combo with it. Evelyn isn't a favourite name of mine - Julia Pleasance Evelina flows better for me.

I never heard it before. It makes for a good middle name rather than first name. I like your combo!

Lol. Your feelings for Pleasance mirror my feelings for Temperance.I find Julia Pleasance Evelyn slightly awkward, but it is Evelyn that makes it so, imo. Julia Pleasance would make my day. Evelyn is pretty, though, and the flow isn't that bad.
