When Gabe's best friend Nathan was diagnosed with fatal prostate cancer, he promised Nathan that he'd adopt his children. A year passed, more than what the doctors had originally given Nathan, things were looking up then one night he passed in his sleep. True to his word, Gabe filed papers and soon the boys became Lucas Nathan Quinn-Cooper & William Oliver Quinn-Cooper. Gabe & Mari decided to hyphenate the boy's last name so Nathan's name could be continued. The rest of their children, having already been friends with the boys, are glad to have them as siblings.
